The 1st workout of the challenge is done! The Deck of Cards workout completed in 36:15 (add 1 minute for forgetting to hit the timer at the start, but I did finish all 52 cards). I've never tried it for time, so that was a twist for me. However, I am trying to keep things shorter and more intense; hence timing it.
So, what is the Deck of Cards workout? Today, here is what it looked like:
Hearts = Burpees (or some variation...in my case today it was Squat Thrusts. Wyatt woke up at 3:00am and I had to work at 5:30, so a 7:15 workout on 3-4 hours of sleep requires some modifications)
Diamonds = Box Jumps
Clubs = Sit ups
Spades = Back Rows (on Jungle Gym strap system)
For each suit, there are 13 cards of course to make up a 52 card set. Aces = 14 reps, Kings = 13 reps, Queen = 12 reps, and Jack = 11 reps. The number cards are easy. The # on the card = # of reps (10 down to 2).
So, if you complete the full deck, you will be performing 104 reps per exercise for a total of 416 reps. This workout is tough, and since it revolves around "the luck of the draw" you may end up doing the same exercise several times in a row. Today, that happened on the front end with back rows and on the back end with squat thrusts. I was sure I shuffled them enough, but oh well, whatever, nevermind (to quote Kurt Cobain). It was all good...very good, hard workout.
