30 minutes...Go!

I don't know if I'm crazy, motivated, or just having fun. Maybe a combination of all three, eh (throw that "eh" in there for Canada)? Today, I was going to listen to my body and wait to see if I would work out. I did wait a little while, but not long. The interns in the gym and I pulled out an impromptu morning workout.

Crossfit.com had a workout a few days ago that I saw and made me think "could I do that?" So, interns in tow, and the clock set to 30 minutes, we proceeded to see how many times we could make it through the following three exercises.

1. 5 reps of pull-ups
2. 5 reps of dips
3. 15 sit-ups

I made it through 16 times, which means I did 80 pull-ups, 80 dips, and 240 sit-ups. Kinda proud of myself. I've never tried this, and didn't know if I could do it, but so far, I'm alive and well.

If anyone wonders why I'm not doing traditional cardio (longer duration running, walking, biking) to lose weight, I have an answer. #1, traditional cardio bores me to death, so I'm exercise ADD when it comes to walking, long jogs, etc. #2, I enjoy this type of workout. Imagine that...I'm having fun. #3, it doesn't fit my goals (I do want to be able to run, but not long-distance...sprinting, avoiding rabid Sasquatch; you know that type of thing). #4, there is significant debate on the effectiveness of "aerobic training" in fat loss. Because of that, I want to experiment. #5, my favorite fitness pros (Jon Hinds from Monkey Bar Gym and Ross Enamait from http://www.rosstraining.com/) do not train with "traditional cardio" and are in amazing condition, so I am giving this a test drive myself. I've had one foot in and one foot out (the out was mostly the how and what I eat). On the physical preparation side, I've taken my time working my way up over several months of dabbling with different aspects of this training, so it's NOT like I'm jumping in doing P90X after doing nothing for a year. I've just been less than fully committed. How do you like that...a less than fully committed fitness professional? (be kind...if cut, do I not bleed?)

So, now I'm all in...so far!
