I feel like I have a blogging aversion. When I first started, I was blogging in a matter of minutes about the last workout. The last two days I've waited until the following day. I feel a little distracted, so maybe this should be titled "Blogging distraction" instead?
In any case, whether it is an aversion or a distraction, all things come to an end, and so will my silence about yesterday's workout.
Burpees, as you may have noted, create a sense of ambivalence like no other exercise. That would mean an emotion on one side is screaming "yes, I love the challenge." The emotion on the other (probably fear) whimpers "don't hurt me."
The previous day we took the 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off model and used it with different stations. Yesterday, we applied it to Burpees...nothing but Burpees, for 10 minutes. So, you get 20 opportunities to perform Burpees because of the intervals.
I was hoping for 100 since I performed 100 in around 13 minutes on my first ever attempt around a month ago. Mentally, Burpees can be brutal, especially in the middle. I'm pretty sure that is where I fell short yesterday.
I finished with 96 in 10 minutes. Not awful, but not earthshattering...and more importantly, continuing to improve. Heather pulled out 96, and Bry fired out 77. We all felt pretty good.
Then a friend of Bry's showed up, said, hey I can try that workout, and threw down 142. Arrrgggghhh...pride...taking...a...hit...
Still, nothing compares to the interesting birthday Burpee celebration this wildman did on his 30th birthday. All I gotta say is "if you ever, ever, ever hear of me or see me wanting to try this, remind me that on April 24, 2009 I said no way, no chance, never."
